Tabletop Joe

"One of the things I have miss most about my time at Yale is the Digital Media Center for the Arts. I quickly learned after graduation that the easy access to great equipment and facilities of the DMCA took much of the annoyingly practical legwork out of producing creative work. It’s safe to say that my senior project wouldn’t have been as successful (or as enjoyable) without the support of the DMCA staff. And in the time since graduation, the skills and tricks I picked up at the DMCA have been of tremendous help, with both personal and professional projects."

Katrina Whalen, Film Studies 2005

Katrina Whalen graduated from Yale College in 2004, at which time she was awarded the Louis Sudler Prize for Excellence in the Arts for her accomplishments in film and animation. She moved to New York shortly after to begin living the life of a low-level film lackey.

In the last two years she has worked as a production intern on Broken Flowers, as an asset delivery manager at Curious Pictures, and, most recently, as Charlie Kaufman’s assistant on the Theater of the New Ear project during its New York, London, and Los Angeles runs. She is currently spending her workday as an assistant in The Weinstein Company’s production department.

Outside of work, she is hitting her head against a handful of short animations, a meandering feature length script, a fledgeling video production company, Corduroy Roads, and an Yale alumni-driven webisode series, Duder.
