Hieronymus Bosch (1453?-1516)
Flemish painter who would have felt at home among modern surrealists and science fiction writers. His triptychs "The Temptations of Saint Anthony" and "The Garden of Delights" (shown here closed, presenting the earth) explore timeless visions in which everything interacts with everything else in a web of human dreams and nightmares. Bruegel admired his work. My amazement never ends.
